The GroupMe chat where more than 250 racial slurs for white people was shared and then leaked earlier this month was not the Auburn University Black Student Union channel or from any other “recognized Auburn University organization,” the university said.
“My favorite is the vanilla villager,” one person wrote in the GroupMe chat, according to screenshots posted on 1819 News.
“These comments did not occur on the Black Student Union GroupMe nor as part of any recognized Auburn University organization channel,” said the university statement, which was sent to AL.com on Monday.
