After squandering a six-run ninth inning lead on in Monday’s series opener, the White Sox wiped the slate clean and notched a convincing win on Tuesday.
The White Sox other two runs came via a 419-foot Gavin Sheets blast into the right-field seats in the sixth inning. Sheets entered Monday's game 2-for-18 in his previous six appearances, but has now homered on back-to-back nights.
José Ruiz and Bennett Sousa combined to set down the top of the Guardians order in the eighth, then Kendall Graveman, who hadn't pitched since May 6 as the White Sox manage his workload, notched the save in the ninth. Initially, Giménez was ruled safe. But after review, the White Sox had the final out — and their bullpen had completed a resilient outing of two shutout innings after allowing 10 between the ninth, 10th and 11th innings on Monday.
