The White Sox are still looking to take that step forward and return to contender status.
"You know that you're going to go through stretches where you're playing well and you're going to go through stretches where you're not playing well," White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn said."As professionals you've got to show up and be ready to play the next day, and we're doing that. Sometimes it doesn't equate to a win on the field, but we're giving everything we've got, and as long as we keep doing that, we're going to be all right.
Right-hander Lucas Giolitto will make his 13th start of the season for the White Sox, coming off his two worst starts of the year. He gave up eight runs and seven hits in five innings in a loss to the Astros on June 17, and seven runs and 11 hits in five innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Right-hander Noah Syndergaard will be on the mound for the Angels on Monday to make his 12th start of the season. He is 0-4 with a 5.31 ERA in his last four starts, his last win coming May 24 against the Rangers. He has made two appearances against the White Sox in his career, allowing one unearned run and five hits in 8 1/3 innings.
