If Jim Chalmers’ career as treasurer doesn’t work out, he may pick up a job in the wedding planning business.
One notable non-attendee will be Liberal leader Peter Dutton who has previously said he’ll be avoiding the gathering, calling it a stunt. The balancing act struck by Chalmers is clear. There’s an equal number of representatives from unions and the business sector. Combined, they account for about half of all attendees.Some on the business side are now mates with unions, so sitting the Business Council of Australia’s Jennifer Westacott next to ACTU President Michele O’Neil shouldn’t be an issue.
