In New South Wales, you are exempt from wearing a seat belt when reversing, unless you are a learner driver.

"If your indicators are not working or not clearly visible or your vehicle is not fitted with them, you must give a hand signal when turning right or stopping," Transport NSW says on its website.NSW Transport If your brake lights are not working or cannot be seen, you must put your arm out of the window, and bend at the elbow to signal you're stopping.It's illegal to use a mobile phone while driving across Australia, unless the device is in a hands-free cradle and phone calls are taken using Bluetooth.Only drivers with an unrestricted licence can use Bluetooth and handle their phone in a cradle.
