The WHO repeatedly thanked the Chinese Government for sharing the genetic map of the virus 'immediately,' but behind the scenes, it was a different story.
China stalled on providing critical coronavirus information to the World Health Organization , which expressed frustration in private even as it praised the country in public, according to a recent report from the Associated Press .
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied delays in sharing virus information, saying the AP report was "seriously inconsistent with the facts".Delays laid bare in WHO recordings Epidemiologist Maria Van Kerkhove said the WHO was "going on very minimal information" in an internal meeting. "This is exactly the same scenario, endlessly trying to get updates from China about what was going on," he said.
Dr Ryan also noted that China was not cooperating in the same way some other countries had in the past.
