The co-creator of Clone High explains why a live-action reboot was scrapped. Picking up two decades after the season 1 conclusion, Clone High season 2 debuted on the Max streaming service on May 23. The central animated clones, including Abe, Joan, JFK, and Cleo, are unfrozen and have to adapt to the changing societal landscape and the fact that there are now newer clones like Harriet, Frida, and Confucius.
Rivinoja: Someone had brought up, “What if we do a live-action feature of Clone High?”, which seemed like a terrible idea, but they were like, “I think we’re gonna put together a pitch for this. Would you like to write it?” And I was like, “Yeah, yeah.” Then it became, “Well, actually, there’s a chance that we could do a series out of it,” which made a lot more sense to me.
The Clone High Revival Is Exactly What It Should Be Clone High season 2 began with a muddled few episodes, as the characters adjusted to the way the world has changed since they signed off in the early 2000s.
