Key among these is how members respond to China’s efforts to reshape global norms in its image, and the prospect that China could seek to reunify Taiwan by force.strong misgivings about following the US’ lead on Taiwan and “getting caught up in crises that are not ours”. His comments were criticised by many for his apparent readiness to abandon democratic Taiwan, and his implied reticence for Europe to lead beyond its own neighbourhood.
