Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing on his secret to getting dressed in the morning and the best piece of advice he's ever gotten
On Mondays, Olivier Rousteing, the creative director of the French fashion house Balmain, wakes up around 6:30 a.m. He drinks a succession of beverages—green tea, lemon juice and orange juice—and eats a breakfast of eggs and avocado.
While the designer, 36, is an avid boxer, Mondays and Saturdays are the days when his yoga teacher comes over and leads him in a meditation instead. The more serene practice is how Rousteing prefers to start the week, perhaps because he doesn’t take any time off during the weekends. Saturday and Sunday are his most creative days, he says, and he spends them working alone in his office. “It’s on the sixth floor of the building,” he says. “I’m the only one on the floor, and I can see all of Paris.
