Goanna Group is an Indigenous-owned and operated IT consulting and training firm seeking to increase the representation of minority groups in the sector.

IT consulting and training firm Goanna Group is placing newly trained tech talent in a range of major consultancies as part of a push by the Indigenous owned and operated outfit to increase the representation of minority groups in the sector.such as EY, Deloitte and Accenture, along with IT powerhouse Atlassian, either hire graduates through the firm’s consulting arm or employ graduates of the firm’s training courses in a range of technical and project roles.

The training courses have so far produced more than 300 graduates, including more than 50 who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, said Lisa Sarago, the chief executive of Goanna Group. Goanna Group operates two businesses – Goanna Education, which runs a variety of IT-based training courses, and Goanna Solutions, which provides IT consulting, labour-hire and recruitment services.Goanna Education’s signature training programs, Deadly Digital Operations Bootcamp and Digital Operations Bootcamp, are 12-week courses designed to create job-ready graduates.

“Although our focus is Indigenous education and employment, we are also opened up to other diverse groups – women, women returning to work, culturally and linguistically diverse, recently arrived migrants … we like to work with those who don’t necessarily have the opportunities.”means the firm’s tech graduates are in high demand, with almost three-quarters, or 239, of the graduates employed in tech-related roles within three months of finishing the training.
