The coronavirus crisis has ground many Australian industries to a halt – but this one is thriving thanks to some surprising reasons.
According to Bloom Box Co co-founder and CEO Philomena Kwok, it was a “crazy time” for flower sales at the moment for several key reasons, with the company recording a fourfold increase in new subscribers signing up for deliveries in the last few weeks.
“We put this down to a growing interest in home decor and improvement, with everyone wanting to brighten the spaces they are spending so much time in. Ms Bond, who usually specialises in arrangements for weddings and other events, had adapted to the pandemic by switching to sending out floral bouquets and arrangements to customers.
“Flowers and plants are pure for the soul and a great way of showing that you care and a lot of people need this right now,” she said.
