None of this is to say that Zelenskyy is a nailed-on winner as and when an election is called – but we might also note that if he was truly only interested in his own political survival, he might have tried to go ahead with the scheduled election at the height of his popularity. “Even now, he will believe that he can run on the basis of being Ukraine’s defender and have an excellent chance,” Lutsevych said.
