More than 3,000 residents are being told to stay in nine Melbourne public housing estates for at least five days. Here's what that might look like.
There have long been concerns about overcrowding in the blocks, which often have shared laundry facilities and small units."Some public housing tenants have fled war or family violence," Victorian Council of Social Service chief executive Emma King said.
Australia's Deputy Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly said the tower lockdown was similar to approaches earlier this year in other parts of the world such as New York, China and in Europe.
