Telgemeier’s audience has been steadily growing since her first release struck a chord with young readers, with 18 million copies of her books in print across Scholastic’s U.S. distribution channels, and her books translated into 22 languages. Berger said that soon after’s publication, Scholastic realized it was going to be a bestseller based on how it resonated with kids.
