Elected to state parliament as a Liberal MP in October 2023, Mr Behrakis used his new position to push for a parliamentary inquiry into ADHD.The inquiry received 60 submissions, with a lack of Tasmanian medical professionals raised as a common theme. "It's pretty difficult. If you're an adult who's reliant on the public health system, it's impossible, there are no bulk billing services, there's no public service," Dr Derrick said.
"There are public sector paediatricians that will see people with ADHD, but those wait lists are very long," she said. "We note that our son has only received treatment due to the will, connections and means of us as his parents," they said.
