The owners of gun sprinting mare Imperatriz say they have no regrets about rejecting a place in The Everest and would have been more likely to contest the $20 million race if it was a group 1 event.

Instead, Te Akau Racing will wait for the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley this month when she is likely to start as one of the shortest-priced favourites in an Australian group 1 race since Winx and Black Caviar. There is only one more runner to be confirmed for the race, with breeding giant Yulong expected to announce Alcohol Free, the most expensive horse imported to Australia, as the last of the 12 hopefuls.
