Lakers got a glimpse of what’s needed in the playoffs when D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves and Malik Beasley combined for 67 points in a win over Phoenix
When you think of the Lakers, you think of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. When you think of the Lakers’ star power, of their glitz and glamor and celebrity, you think of James and Davis. When you think of points and rebounds and assists, you think of James and Davis, too.
On a night in which James and Davis were fighting the grind of the NBA season and foot injuries, the Lakers’ supporting cast stepped up and sparked a victory over the Suns. Phoenix, having clinched fourth in the Western Conference playoff seedings, rested its top four players. “When they can just play manageable minutes and those other guys step up and play well, it just makes us that much more dangerous. And it saves some gas for our two big dogs.”
