Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews unveiled his much anticipated path forward on Sunday, extending the state’s stage four lockdown until September 28.
“I apologise for the circumstances we find ourselves in, I apologise for the reality we find ourselves in, but we can't change that,” Mr Andrews said.He said continuing restrictions was the only way to get a Christmas “as close to normal as possible”. Police officers stood guard as anti lockdown protesters gathered at the Shrine of Remembrance on Saturday in Melbourne. Mr Andrews said the consequences of the virus spreading were even greater than the difficulties currently endured by Victorians in lockdown.
