But the DFES have warned the firegrounds still remain "dangerous", outlining various hazards they pose."The incident management teams for each fire are working hard to make the affected areas safe, and we appreciate the communities' patience and support during this understandably difficult time."Two fires in Denmark and Bridgetown have together burned through almost 4700 hectares.The fires are said to be some of the most ferocious in the state's history.
A burst of Catastrophic fire danger ratings helped fuel the blazes over the weekend, with the DFES describing conditions as "hellish" on Sunday. "Scores of firefighters spent a hellish night under pressure from variable winds, showers of embers and oppressive heat as they fought against a firestorm bearing down on our communities," they wrote.Specialist firefighters from New South Wales had to be flown in to help combat the flames.
"We had over 1,000 career and volunteer firefighters and personnel work incredibly hard to protect those in the line of fire," DFES said.While they are waging a fierce battle on the firefronts several homes have sadly been lost in the area.11 of 36Heavy downpours of rain at the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park has led to the closure of several walking tracks at the popular tourist site.
