The striker looks ahead to today's Viaplay Cup clash in Paisley
Motherwell striker Conor Wilkinson says the Steelmen’s season could be defined by a cup run, and he hopes they can sink St Mirren on Saturday to maintain their momentum under boss Stuart Kettlewell.
Wilkinson opened the scoring in Sunday’s 2-1 win Premiership over Hibs to make it 12 games unbeaten in all competitions, and you have to go back to April’s defeat at home to Dundee United for the last time they tasted defeat in any match. But Wilkinson says the club are determined to reach the last eight now Motherwell’s new-look front line has found its feet, with Wilkinson and fellow strikers Theo Bair and Mika Biereth all off the mark early on.
“If you keep winning, you can get some good draws, keep that momentum going and take it into the league as well.“We’ve got to work relentlessly on the training pitch and fingers crossed, now that we’ve got our first win in the league this season, we can take that forward.
