Several stores in Nottinghamshire are set to close next week
Wilko is preparing to close of all of its remaining stores early next month. By Sunday, October 8, the household and garden retailer will have closed all of its stores across the UK, after the popular business fell into administration last month.
According to administrators for PwC, the final 111 stores will be closing in early October as part of the final phase of closures for Wilko. However, the brand will not completely disapear from the high street as The Range have agreed to buy the Wilko brand, as well as its website and intellectual property.
It is understood the retailer has plans to sell the acquired brand in its stores. Some Wilko stores have been bought by Poundland and B&M but these will be converted into their own brands reports Bristol Live.Wilko was founded in 1930 in Leicester by James Kemsey Wilkinson, and before its collapse it had around 400 stores and employed 12,500 workers.
These are set to close over three dates in October.
