Hours before the crash, Spence posted a video of himself singing You Are My Hiding Place on his Instagram page
The singing competition show has described Spence as"a true talent who lit up every room he entered".American Idol runner-up Willie Spence has died in a car crash in the US.
Spence, who was from Georgia, finished second to Chayce Beckham on season 19 of American Idol last year. A spokesperson for the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the agency is investigating why Spence's car veered off the road.
