School kids are in for a chance to hop aboard the iconic Waverley steamer which is due to set sail next month.

Pupils are being asked to get creative and make a replica of the boat from their household items in a bid to win the"unforgettable" trip.

They will also sail under the Erskine Bridge, before passing the town of Port Glasgow to arrive in Greenock for some fish-tastic views. At the end of the journey, pupils will also be able to take home an exclusive Waverley gift from the on-board shop.Alex Hornby, managing director at McGill’s, said:"We are thrilled to be working in partnership with paddle steamer Waverley to launch this exciting competition for schools, and our coach will be taking the lucky winners home after a great day out.

The Glasgow Times will get in touch with the winning school to arrange coach travel to and from the school. The winning school must obtain permission from parents and guardians, and the editor's decision is final.This competition is running across the Glasgow Times, Clydebank Post, Greenock Telegraph, Largs and Millport News, Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald, Ayr Advertiser and Helensburgh Advertiser. Schools must be within the paper's circulation areas to enter.
