Legendary mare Winx has given birth to her second foal without complications early on Monday morning. Mum and her Snitzel colt are both “doing well”, according to connections. The healthy late-season arrival was relief to connections after Winx almost died giving birth to her first foal, which did not survive, four years ago. It has yet to be decided if Winx will now miss a season. The four-time Cox Plate winner gave birth to a Pierro filly in 2022.
“I didn’t come here to buy this horse originally,” Kepitis said. “We put her up for auction and then in the last few weeks, the family started to miss our ‘granddaughter’, so we decided that, as best we could, if we could get her, we would. “I’m privileged to be able to secure this filly on behalf on my family. “She’s Australian forever and she’s going to be just fabulous. “Hopefully she’ll do a Winx, but it doesn’t matter if she doesn’t.
