Racing legend Winx has given birth to a colt by champion sire Snitzel, adding another chapter to her remarkable story.
Champion mare Winx has again added to her incredible legacy, delivering a colt by Arrowfield Stud stallion Snitzel in the early hours of Monday morning. Winx was without peer on the racetrack, winning a world record 33 straight races – including four successive Cox Plates between 2015 and 2018 – in a career that netted more than $26 million prizemoney.
She lost her first foal by I Am Invincible in 2020 before delivering in 2022 a Pierro filly that was later sold to part-owner Debbie Kepitis’ Woppitt Bloodstock for a world record $10 million at the 2024 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. Winx’s part-owner Peter Tighe confirmed to Racenet that she had delivered her Snitzel foal without complication and that she and the colt were healthy. Due to the late foaling, Tighe confirmed it was unlikely Winx would be served by a stallion this spring. Snitzel is also the sire of this year’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Switzerland and 2024 Group 1 Flight Stakes winner Lady Shenandoah. Winx’s ownership group is yet to make a decision on whether it will retain her colt or offer him for sale as a yearling in 2026
