A witness who claimed to have seen Amber Haigh shortly before her disappearance and alleged murder has had their memory questioned by defence lawyers.
Witness James Arber's has given evidence at the murder trial of Robert and Anne Geeves .More witnesses, including Ms Haigh's cousin Paul Harding are expected to give evidence in the trial.
Mr Arber told the court that the Geeveses and Ms Haigh visited him and his father at their home near Boorowa, with Ms Geeves holding a baby during the visit. "I don’t mean this in any disrespectful way but are you confused about what you remember in 2002?" Mr King said.Mr Arber also told the court that when he first called Crime Stoppers in 2021 to report what he saw in 2002 he may have seen the Geeveses at the petrol station in late May, instead of June.Earlier this week, the trial heard from Jacqueline Thompson, a child protection caseworker who worked for the NSW Department of Community Services in the early 2000s.
"Mr Geeves was in a relationship with a woman … was found in a wheelbarrow, tied up in a garage on the property," Ms Thompson said.Ms Thompson said she was also aware of an earlier incident where "two schoolgirls were found in a silo" on the same property. She told the court Ms Haigh's disappearance was never discussed during her six-year relationship with Mr Geeves.Ms O'Sioda said she "could not recall" details of specific conversations and she refused to read her police statement before giving evidence.Justice Julia Lonergan observed that the witness was "evasive, obnoxious and guarded" and that her demeanour was "deliberately unhelpful".
