Marcos Senesi passed a fitness test to start for the Cherries, who went into the game without a win in their previous seven Premier League outings. Marcus Tavernier replaced Jaidon Anthony in their only change. After a largely uneventful first half, Bournemouth snatched an unexpected lead through Tavernier in the 49th minute.
Dominic Solanke made a driving run into the area and his ball across goal was turned in by Tavernier off his thigh.
