Officials said they were called at approximately 2:10 p.m. to a report of a vehicle sinking at Settlement Canyon Reservoir.Police said the car was completely submerged upon their arrival, and a 12-year-old girl was still inside.
Officers said they went into the water and tried to open the doors of the car, but couldn’t. One eventually used his firearm to break open one of the windows of the vehicle and retrieve the girl.They said she gained consciousness before medics arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital. She was last reported to be in stable condition.An investigation is underway to determine if impairment was a factor and how the car ended up in the water.
