A police source told AFP that a woman wearing a Muslim headscarf made threats and shouted “Allahu Akbar” . “Police fired because they feared for their safety,” the source said. A passenger on the suburban train had called the emergency services and said the woman was making threats. A police source told the Associated Press they opened fire after the woman failed to respond to their warnings.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said the woman had threatened to blow herself up, AFP reported. Police fired one shot, inflicting a life-threatening injury.Prosecutors said police had launched two investigations. One would consider the woman’s actions, while another was to determine whether the police’s use of a firearm was justified.
