"The traffic warden came to the middle to stop traffic, a small white hatchback continued through the crossing and struck the 12-year-old child," WA Police acting detective Sergeant William Beyfus said at the time.Almost two months later, officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section have charged a 49-year-old woman from Maddington over the crash.
She was arrested yesterday and charged with failing to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm, failing to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm, and having no authority to drive.Speaking after the crash, Alexis's mother, Tory Carter, said she had received a call from the school five minutes after dropping her daughter off, telling her Alexis had been involved in an incident.
"I was there within a few minutes. She was on the ground with a big crowd of people around her, so pretty scary."She kept asking me, 'Mum am I bleeding, am I bleeding?' … she was quite shaken."
