BREAKING: Sydney’s Covid-19 crisis continues to rise with New South Wales recording a whopping 77 new locally acquired cases on Sunday.
She was a close contact of a locally acquired case and was tested for COVID-19 on Friday, returning a positive result early on Saturday morning.
NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant added: “Tragically, there was the death that the Premier referred to, a 90-year-old lady, and I give my condolences to the family. Of the 77 new infections, 32 were in isolation throughout their infectious period and nine cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period.Of these locally acquired cases, 55 were linked to a known case or cluster – 39 are household contacts and 16 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 22 cases remains under investigation.
