A mother has drowned at a popular beach on the Gold Coast as a group celebrating a gender reveal party frantically entered the surf to save her two children.
The woman in her 40s was swimming with her two children at Froggies Beach when they ran into trouble around 3.15pm on Sunday.
Her children were pulled from the surf by a group who were celebrating a gender reveal party nearby. "We saw a mother and daughter drowning. My brother jumped in and saved the daughter. My brother-in-law jumped in as well," a beachgoer told Nine News.Several good Samaritans ran into trouble themselves while attempting to rescue the woman.Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the woman but she died at the scene. A report will be prepared for the coroner.The spot is not recommended for swimming as low rocks pose a hazard to swimmers.
