A woman was stabbed to death in West Oakland Wednesday morning and a possible suspect was detained by police.
OAKLAND — A 71-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Wednesday morning in West Oakland, and a possible suspect was later detained, police said.
The woman’s name was not immediately released. Police said she lived in the area where the stabbing occurred. The attack happened about 12:38 a.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Eighth Street, not far from the main post office. Police said the woman was walking when she was confronted by someone and repeatedly stabbed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
