A part-time student fears she may be left homeless after her mortgage repayments more than doubled when her fixed-term deal came to an end amidRachel Attfield, a mature student who is studying part-time towards an MA while working in a museum, has shared ownership of a property in Hackney, north London.mini-budget sent the markets into turmoilShe said she had been desperately looking for a deal she could afford, but has had to settle for one more than double the previous cost.
While her monthly fixed-term rate had previously been £187 a month, from next month she will be paying £408.: “Each month I am going to be earning £200 less than I need to stay on an even keel. It’s going to have a massive impact on me. I’m looking for more work, while studying. “There are huge amounts of anger around how people are being put in this situation. When you don’t have any extra this is an impossible situation.”
She laid the blame squarely at the feet of the Government, saying she did not know how she was going to remain living in her home.“I don’t know if I can carry on living where I am living,” she said. “It is going to make me homeless, it is quite desperate.
