It is not clear how long the 36-year-old woman entombed
A woman who was assaulted and discovered inside a bricked up tomb has been rescued gravediggers noticed blood and fresh cement. The 36-year-old was freed at the Municipal Cemetery of Visconde do Rio Branco, in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, on the morning of March 28.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for head injuries and told officers that two masked men had taken her to the cemetery where they assaulted her and sealed her inside the grave. The Military Police said she was keeping drugs for the men who attacked her but had "misplaced" them. The Civil Police, however, gave the motive as a dispute over a firearm.
At the time of reporting, officers were looking for the culprits who have now both reportedly been identified. It is not clear how long the woman spent in the tomb. The man who was identified as Julio Cesar Bermejo, named the mummy 'Juanita'. He said in a local media interview: "At home, she's in my room, she sleeps with me. I take care of her," he said in a local media interview.
