Eighteen families were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross of New Jersey, officials said.The fire broke out at The Villa on the corner of Prospect Street and Park Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Firefighters from East Orange and neighboring municipalities worked for hours to bring the blaze under control.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
