A woman has been killed when she was struck by a car that veered off a Brisbane road and flipped. The woman was initially believed to have been a passenger of the car that crashed on Kessels Rd in Coopers Plains about 4.50am on Thursday. But further investigations have revealed she was a pedestrian, according to police. She reportedly was on a morning walk or run when she was struck, but police have declined to confirm that detail.
She is yet to be identified. The driver — a 19-year-old man — was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening. Significant damage to the front and rear of the car he was driving was seen in the aftermath to the crash. Part of a fence alongside the road was also damaged. Westbound lanes of Kessels Rd are closed and are expected to remain that way for hours, police said.
