NSW Police have confirmed the death of a 63-year-old woman after high winds brought down a tree on a cabin near the border with Victoria , as dangerous weather continues to lash the nation's south.
Destructive winds, with gusts in excess of 150km/h, have posed a major threat to safety and on Monday authorities confirmed the worst after a tree collapsed on a cabin near Albury. Upon arrival, officers from the Murray River Police District found the wreckage of a cabin, managing to safely extract a 63-year-old man before finding the body of a woman.
While conditions are expected to ease slightly through the morning, winds are forecast to pick up again during the afternoon, prompting Mr Wiebusch to urge locals not to drop their guard.
