A woman has died when her car was hit by an allegedly speeding, intoxicated driver on Queensland’s Fraser Coast overnight. The 39-year-old’s Mitsubishi Mirage was hit by an allegedly stolen white Ford Escape on Booral Rd, between Condor Dr and Moorabinda Dr, in Sunshine Acres about 10.15pm on Sunday. The Sunshine Acres woman, who was the only person in the Mitsubishi, died at the scene.
Soon after the crash, a 25-year-old Morayfield man was arrested and taken to Hervey Bay Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been charged with offences including dangerous driving causing death while intoxicated and excessively speeding, possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and is due to face Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
