A 72-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday morning in Oakland but her body was not found until Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
OAKLAND — The body of a 72-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run collision in East Oakland more than 24 hours earlier was discovered Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
She was identified by the coroner’s office Thursday as Mara Delaney of Santa Rosa. Police have not yet said why she was in Oakland. She was found dead about 1:07 p.m. Wednesday against a fence in the 3600 block of Seminary Avenue by some maintenance workers, police said. Police said there were apparent skid marks that led from the southbound lanes of Seminary to the area where the woman was found.
In the course of their investigation, police recovered video surveillance that showed the woman was hit by a white Ford 150 pickup truck between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. The truck fled after the woman was hit. Police have not released any description of the driver and have not been able to obtain the truck’s license plate number.
