A woman has pleaded not guilty to stealing more than $700,000 from the plumbing business she worked at in Queanbeyan over a two-and-a-half year period.
Rebecca Leigh Betts, 32, was charged with three counts of stealing property as a clerk and five of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception in October. She is accused of nominating herself as the recipient of illegitimate invoices, paying herself an additional salary and making unauthorised charges on the company's accounts between April 2021 and October 2023.
Court documents allege Ms Betts nominated herself as the recipient of 112 illegitimate invoices while working as a clerk for the business, totalling $620,071, and paying herself an additional salary of $55,626.
