A woman’s life hangs in the balance four days after she took an “extremely potent” cocktail of drugs that killed another woman she was partying with in a Gold Coast hotel room. The woman, 43, remains in intensive care on Tuesday, after the death of 40-year-old Danielle Whittaker at the Meriton Suites in Surfers Paradise on Friday night. Another 43-year-old woman is on track to recover from an overdose.
“The fact that three had an adverse reaction and all had to be resuscitated, suggests that one of those drugs, whatever they took, was pretty potent.” Tributes have poured in for Whittaker, who has been described as a fearless, loyal and unique person. “The best of friends, loyal, trustworthy, a friend in all seasons, keeper of secrets,” one woman said. “Entrepreneurial, creative, passionate, endless energy and joy for life. You were fearless, and invincible, cared deeply and loved us all.
