Nikkita Azzopardi’s body was discovered in a home on Reid Street, South Morang, about 10am on Monday.
A woman found dead in Melbourne’s north-east has been remembered as “a gentle soul” who would help anyone.Victoria Police said a 33-year-old man – whom the Azzopardi family identified as Nikkita’s partner Joel Micallef – was arrested over her death.
Shaun, along with his father and brother, went to Azzopardi’s home in South Morang on Monday morning. Shaun said his sister, who worked at an accounting firm, had been in a relationship with Micallef for about 2½ years. The distraught Azzopardi family stayed at the scene sobbing for much of Monday afternoon.“She’d do anything for anyone. She’s a gentle soul. She’ll help anyone. She was always a good listener,” Shaun said.
Detective acting Senior Sergeant Shaun O’Connell, from the Victoria Police’s homicide squad, said the 33-year-old man arrested would be interviewed late on Monday.
