Woman shot with beanbag round fired during La Mesa protest settles with county for $250K [Breaking]
A woman who sued the county after she was shot with a beanbag round during a 2020 protest in La Mesa that turned riotous has settled for $250,000, according to her attorney and county authorities.
Horton said her biggest concerns about going to the protest were getting separated from her children in a large crowd or getting a wallet stolen — not getting shot. She said she told her children not to take pictures to post online. “I was shocked,” Horton said. “Absolutely shocked. ... Never did it occur to me that I would be injured by law enforcement.”
