Deputies release name of woman found gravely injured in Vista; death deemed a homicide [Breaking]
Sheriff’s officials on Monday released the name of a 41-year-old woman who died after an argument turned physical on a Vista street last week, and her death is considered a homicide, a sheriff’s official said Monday.
Fallbrook resident Mayra Mejia’s cause of death is pending, homicide Lt. Chris Steffen said in a news release. He also said a suspect has been identified, but held back on releasing more information, citing “investigative reasons.” About 8 p.m. Wednesday, someone reported seeing an altercation on South Santa Fe Avenue near Service Place, just south of Monte Vista Drive.Deputies arrived to find Mejia injured, with signs of trauma to her upper torso, Steffen said last week. She was taken to a hospital but died that night.
