Around 52,000 single Australians aged 55 to 59 will receive a higher JobSeeker rate from September."The majority of people aged 55 and over on JobSeeker are women, many with little to no savings or superannuation, and who are at risk of homelessness," Treasurer Jim Chalmers said.The payments will increase by $92.10 a fortnight if the recipient has been on it for nine continuous months.For working-age women and students receiving income support payments, these will increase by $40.
The program aims to double the number of women apprentices and trainees on government construction projects by 2030 and triple the proportion of women in trades apprenticeships by the same time. A further $589.3 million is invested in women's safety including addressing violence against First Nations women and children, improving justice response for victim-survivors of sexual violence, and expanding family law property pilot programs to improve separating families.
