Braving the Canberra chill, women's safety advocates huddled together out the front of Parliament House this morning, marking a day where a workplace right for domestic violence victims edged closer to becoming law.
It's a change 10 years in the making that started with the Australian Services Union's "We Won't Wait" campaign, pushing for the universal leave entitlement to be enshrined in the National Employment Standards.Without paid leave, union secretary Natalie Lang says it can be harder for women to flee unsafe relationships.
