The Australian Foreign Minister has been condemned and accused of 'finger-pointing' by the Chinese embassy who claimed Beijing is the 'victim' of of 'political provocation' from the United States.
The Chinese embassy in Canberra has singled out Foreign Minister Penny Wong over her"unacceptable" response to China's military exercises in Taiwan.
"The Secretary and the Foreign Ministers expressed their concern about the People’s Republic of China’s recent actions that gravely affect international peace and stability, including the use of large-scale military exercises," it read. "The actions taken by Chinese government to safeguard state sovereignty and territorial integrity and curb the separatist activities are legitimate and justified," they added. Over the weekend, the Taiwanese government accused Beijing of simulating an attack after the first trip to the island from a US House Speaker in a quarter of a century.
