Con Edison needs to make necessary repairs, which could mean the facility may not reopen for several days.
The facility suffered serious damage during Friday's storm.
Officials said the hospital had to switch into emergency power during the afternoon to ensure patient and staff safety. Con Edison then informed the hospital that in order to make the necessary repairs, it would have to temporarily shut down the back-up power to the entire facility. Completion of repairs could take several days before the hospital can resume operations, officials said.More from CBS News
