Tech titan Scott Farquhar says Elon Musk’s demand that workers return to the office is like something from the 1950s and Tesla staff who don’t like his attitude should apply for jobs at Atlassian.

Elon Musk’s edict ordering Tesla and SpaceX employees back to the office or risk losing their job has kicked off a Twitter spat with Australian tech billionaire Scott Farquhar.saying they must be in the office a minimum of 40 hours a week., just a few months after sending workers home amid the first COVID-19 wave in 2020.

“This is the future of how we will work. Highly distributed, highly flexible. Yes, right now it’s not perfect, but we have to experiment to get it right,” he tweeted. “Any Tesla employees interested?”Never one to shy away from an online argument, Mr Musk replied to Mr Farquhar’s posts: “The above set of tweets illustrate why recessions serve a vital economic cleansing function.”

Mr Farquhar has not responded directly to Mr Musk, but in a tweet posted Friday morning noted that this wouldn’t be Atlassian’s first recession and linked to a company blog post recapping the company’s milestones.
